This is in Via Solferino, a beautiful, charming and colorful street filled with shops in Milano’s Brera neighborhood. It is a few blocks from my old apartment in Milano, and I’ve walked up and down it at least a thousand times. This was a crisp Saturday morning, after the typical Milanese fog rose, and the sun was bouncing off the pomegranates at the fruttivendolo. I was on my way to meet a friend for a day up in Bergamo, and this gentleman, with his mustache and head of white hair, was on his way to something, or nothing. Whichever it was, he seemed so peaceful and unhurried—such a lovely state to be in, at any time of day.
