Perhaps my favorite run in all the land is a Scenic Drive loop in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The morning light, as it negotiates for stage time with the fog layers, the mountain shadows, and the reflection of the sun off the ocean, is nothing short of cinematic. Nature does it best, better than any lighting or special effects crew. It’s impossible to capture, but that doesn’t stop me from trying.
