An overcast, winter day in Rome can feel ever so slightly melancholy, let’s be honest. The buildings with their ancient patinas feel less warm, and the narrow streets darker and colder. It is, even still, a beautiful city to photograph, and I love a little ‘mood’ now and then. This man, as I recall, was in a definite melancholy mood, though I loved the tone of his jacket with these buildings. I do wonder what he was thinking. Maybe it wasn’t quite so melancholic— maybe he was debating between cicoria or rapini for that evening’s winter greens.
