I took this before I moved to Milano, in 2013. I was on my way to Paris and stopped in Milano to see a few friends and visit a graduate program I had been accepted to. I applied only to facilitate a move to my favorite city. I was so taken with Milano as a young woman; it was so elegant, so stylish, so sophisticated, so sexy. Walking around the Quad D’oro in the very early morning, when only a handful of Milanese were on their way to Marchesi for a caffe and a few strong men were setting up new displays at the boutiques, I spotted this gentleman taking in a few magnificent windows, moving down the street so slowly and peacefully. Window-shopping in Italy is an art form—it occupies the Italians for hours and hours. A whole afternoon can be spent window shopping. I imagine he was getting a head start before his first meeting at the office.
