I remember this moment so well. This is a very popular trattoria in Brera, in Milano. I went with one of my girlfriends and her mamma and a friend of her mom’s, and someone’s toy poodle. This man was at the serving table, looking so incredibly dapper and gruff and very unfriendly. He just wanted to have his dinner and not be bothered, and I assume he has been frequenting this spot since it opened decades ago. He watched me take this photo of him; it was a little rude of me, I will admit, but I had to have it.
