This was the morning I went with Giacomo to the 5 a.m. chef’s market outside Firenze. He had his list for the day, and I had my camera. I loved this gentleman; one of the restaurant’s favored sources for greens. I watched each bundle be carefully inspected. It had to be perfect, the best of the best. And this gentleman, never a smile, but so much character beneath that mustache. I assume he’s known Giacomo since he was a baby and has seen it all. I could have photographed these two together all day.
