There is so much going on in this very simple vignette. The color of the bikes, the casualness of how they are left outside, as if Giovanni ran in quickly to bring his mother the bread, the variation of door frame sizes and their slightly different color. The off-center engraving in the ancient building which is positively falling apart. Everything so scratched and worn but so beautiful.
